Most Irish businesses are not taking full advantage of the technology now available to allow their employees to be more mobile and more productive.

A new report suggests the mobile device will replace the PC and laptop as the central business tool by 2025, but Irish businesses have a long way to go before they start using the tools available to them in a proper and productive way.

The Blueface ICT Insight Report 2014, available here, looked at business telecoms use across Ireland, while the research team also made predictions in ICT that will likely impact Irish businesses in the coming years.

Predictions for the future in ICT in Ireland:
(1) 16 million devices will be connected in Ireland by 2020.
(2) The mobile device will replace the PC/laptop as the central business tool by 2025.
(3) Over 75,000 Irish businesses will move to Hosted Voice solutions by 2020.
(4) The integrated Voice as a Service (VaaS) market will grow to a €700m market by 2025.

60% of Irish businesses have a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ policy in the workplace for staff.
