The world’s largest phone manufacturer Nokia has launched its challenger to the iPhone. The flagship Nokia 8 features the new Symbian 3 software. It will cost about €370 and will be available in Q3 of this year.
On the technical side it has a 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen with a 640 x 360 pixel resolution; a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording HD video, 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD expansion slot, HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, FM Radio and transmitter, and Nokia’s Ovi Maps GPS navigation.
The new Symbian software (shared by Nokia, Motorola and Samsung among others) allows the phone to have multi-touch and multi-tasking, meaning more than one application can be open at any one time.
It can be plugged into TVs and supports surround sound as well as high-def video. Importantly for social networkers, networks like Twitter and Facebook can be displayed on the home screen in a single application.
