Adding to its free Ovi Maps navigation service, Nokia has introduced a new free inbox car accessory with all Nokia smart phones.
The new in-box offer includes a phone cradle and/or charger on its GPS enabled phones and is available in network stores nationwide. Nokia Ovi Maps has already seen over 60,000 Irish downloads since its launch earlier this year. It offers walk and drive navigation, events guides, weather outlooks, a Michelin guide to restaurants and Lonely Planet City Guides.
Covering over 180 countries with car and pedestrian navigation for 74 countries, in 46 languages, and traffic information for more than 10 countries, there are more than 6,000 3D landmarks for 200 cities around the world. Lonely Planet and Michelin guides have information on more than 1,000 destinations globally.
Nokia’s Ovi Maps also offers a ‘Share Location’ feature that allows people to share where they are with friends on Facebook. They can also take a photo and share it with friends. The ‘Own Voice’ feature allows the user to personalise the satnav to record and share their own navigation instructions.
“This new Nokia satnav solution brings our navigation service to the next level for thousands of Irish consumers. For Nokia, removing the costs associated with navigation for drivers and pedestrians allowed us to offer new location features, content and services our phone users,” says Alan O’Hara, general manager of Nokia Ireland.
