Got my first satnav device for the old jammer today. Tom Tom called in to allow me to take one for a test drive. Have to say, being a typical man, I wouldn’t ask for directions [usually] and believe I know my way around the back of my hand. Mind you, took two wrong turns yesterday and was late for a meeting by 15 minutes.
Enough digression, the product handed over to test is the TomTom GoLive 1000. The demo was good. It promises to give drivers the fastest route to a destination. How? It’s able to feed you live updates about traffic, mobile speed cameras, weather updates etc. and links to Google’s directory. “We don’t want our customers to spend time in traffic if they don’t have to,” said David Crotty, country manager, Ireland. Fair enough. Now, on with that test drive. I’ll blog about it later. The device has just been put on sale today, priced €279 for the Irish & UK model.
