It’s that time of the year again, the annual online Christmas spend estimates from credit card company Visa. This year Irish consumers are predicted to spend a total of €356 million online on gifts in the run up to Christmas with an average spend of €172 per shopper. More than 9 out of 10 Irish adults (94%) plan to buy some Christmas gifts online this year with men more likely to spend more (€192) online compared to women (€162). Savings are a key factor for online shoppers. 85% believe they can save an average of 18% buying stuff on the web instead of on the high street. 74% believe that shopping online is safe and secure.
