Barnardos has launched its pre-budget campaign titled “Dreading December 2010”. The campaign was devised by Dublin agency Creative Inc.Accompanying the Barnardos report is a documentary shot in Dolphin House which tells the story of what the recession means to children and families in Ireland. This documentary can be viewed at www.barnardos.ie. Barnardos CEO, Fergus Finlay said, “What’s being called the worst budget in the history of the state is looming and there’s a real sense of dread in communities across the country”.
The campaign’s title and visual language is stark and holds no punches. The message is conveyed through the use of a “writing on the wall” approach.
Advocacy manager at Barnardos Catherine Joyce says, “Creative Inc challenged us to be brave with the title, look and feel of our communications. The media really picked up on what we were trying to convey and the coverage we received was beyond the norms of most pre-budget press launches”.
