It’s the New Year and resolutions have been made. ‘Be more creative’ tops many people’s list. Make that short film, write that novel, learn that guitar … promises, promises. However, there are some good shortcuts to ‘creativity’. Take the 8mm Vintage Camera app for the iPhone created by Nexvio Inc. we came across recently. It retails for less that €2 and is a great way to shoot some ‘8mm footage’ for your short films, videos etc. without actually having to buy and use an 8 mm camera and process the film. The app allows the user to mix and match different films and lenses, so it’s quite hands on in that regards, it’s not just a point and shoot app. There are 25 ‘old school looks’ (e.g. 70s, Sakura, XPro, Siena, or 1920) that can be altered by adding retro colours, flickers, light leaks, dust, frame jitters and scratches.
Once you’ve finished your film (you can edit it on the iPhone 4 using iMovie), you can upload to YouTube, share or email from the app.
