Digital Mines, a new Irish cloud computing provider, has been launched. The company is focused on the European business market.
A recently published economic impact study prepared for Microsoft by Goodbody Economic Consultants suggested the Irish cloud computing sector has the potential to develop into a €9.5bn a year industry by 2014, and create 8,600 new jobs in the process.
Digital Mines says it has developed an application that makes deploying, configuring, and managing a Cloud Computing environment really simple and intuitive.
The company founder, Ed Byrne, was previously General Manager of Hosting365. “Our easy to use control panel allows our customers, with a couple of clicks, to start new servers, or scale up and down existing ones,” says Byrne. “We provide access to Cloud Computing resources on a ‘pay as you go’ model, based on a monthly plan, just like a mobile phone bill. It’s easy for our customers to see their balance at any time, in real-time too – so they won’t get an end of month surprise.”
