Digital Mines, a new Irish cloud computing provider, has been launched. The company is focused on the European business market.A recently published economic impact study prepared for Microsoft by Goodbody Economic Consultants suggested the Irish cloud computing sector has the potential to develop into a €9.5bn a year industry by 2014, and create 8,600 new jobs in the process.
Digital Mines says it has developed an application that makes deploying, configuring, and managing a Cloud Computing environment really simple and intuitive.
The company founder, Ed Byrne, was previously General Manager of Hosting365. “Our easy to use control panel allows our customers, with a couple of clicks, to start new servers, or scale up and down existing ones,” says Byrne. “We provide access to Cloud Computing resources on a ‘pay as you go’ model, based on a monthly plan, just like a mobile phone bill. It’s easy for our customers to see their balance at any time, in real-time too – so they won’t get an end of month surprise.”
