Irish Wi-Fi firm Bitbuzz saw a 17% increase in revenue to €1.1 million in 2010 (€938,000 in 2009). The company had a total of 355,590 registered users by the end of December, a year-on-year increase of 65%.
Its Wi-Fi hotspots around Ireland at the end of 2010 was 245, up from 204 at the end of 2009. “We are very satisfied with the figures for 2010 and in particular the increase in our total number of hotspots, which was difficult in a year that saw a lot of hotels & coffee shops go out of business,” says Shane Deasy, managing director (pictured).
For 2011 Bitbuzz wants to form more strategic B2B partnerships and has entered into the UK market with 50 hotspots up and running. “I think in 2011 we will see our presence develop significantly in the UK,” says Deasy.
