Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp, with 40 radio stations in eight countries across Europe, including Today FM and Newstalk in Ireland, has signed a major content delivery deal with Mirror Image.Mirror Image, a US-based streaming and content delivery provider, will stream live media to Communicorp’s web properties and mobile media apps.
“In today’s media environment, being able to adapt quickly to change is imperative. We are committed to extending our reach beyond traditional channels,” said Aidan McCullen, head of digital for Communicorp. “It was extremely important for us to find a content delivery partner that was willing to experiment with new platforms such as mobile.”
Communicorp will use Mirror Image’s multiprotocol service to stream live, on-demand and user-generated video across its stations. It will monetise the content using Mirror Image’s Media Management Platform, which embeds advertising directly into the video streams.
Currently, Communicorp is delivering content to iPhone, iPad and Nokia devices with plans to roll out Android and Windows 7 support in the future.
