Sohu.com has reported that Facebook has signed a deal with Chinese social network giant Baidu.com to establish another, separate social network in China. The new social network won’t initially be integrated with Facebook’s international service.
Facebook has been trying to get a foothold in the Chinese market for some time now and the deal represents a first step.
Baidu CEO, Robin Li met Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg in December last as Zuckerberg holidayed in China – the country with the largest internet population in the world.
Currently Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are blocked in China, by the ruling Communist party. Google pulled out of China last year due to arguments over State censorship.
