Silicon Valley cloud firm sets up European HQ in Dublin

Silicon Valley based cloud computing firm Marketo, will establish its European headquarters in Dublin.
Founder and CEO of Marketo Phil Fernandez is in Dublin this week to discuss its plans with the IDA. The number of jobs, which are likely to be located in the Dublin area, have not been confirmed but the company has already commenced recruiting for sales, marketing, support, consulting and development positions.
Marketo specialises in a new area of cloud computing known as Revenue Performance Management. This combines marketing automation with sales to grow revenues utilising customer interaction points including Social Media.
Founded in 2006, Marketo has signed 1,000 customers in less than three years. The company, which has raised $57 million, is one of the fastest growing cloud computing, or Software-as- a-Service, companies in Silicon Valley – posting a 315% increase in 2010.
Limerick native, Fergus Gloster is the managing director-Europe. He was one of the co founders of salesforce.com in Europe and was formerly its senior VP for corporate sales in EMEA until 2009.
“This is a great time to be setting up in Ireland,” says Gloster.
