Sony has announced two tablet devices – the S1 and the S2 – and will call them ‘Sony Tablets’. The tablets aren’t available until late 2011, probably autumn, just in time for Christmas.
While Digital Times hasn’t had an opportunity to put the S1 or S2 through their paces, we did receive information that details some of the stand out features. First up, they are Sony devices, so likely to be very good quality. Secondly, under each bonnet is the Android 3.0 OS, which is designed for larger screen sizes – both tablets are WiFi and WAN (3G/4G). Thirdly, S1 has a 9.4-inch display while S2 has two 5.5-inch displays that can be folded for portability.
Tie all these features in with Sony’s Playstation portfolio of games and you can see where this is going. However, the proof will be in the pudding, and it would be good to get our hands on one for a quick test drive.
