The closing date for entries to the Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2011 competition is midnight on 12th June, 2011 CET. The winner, a start-up, will share the €225,000 prize fund.
This is an international contest to identify and develop mobile web start-ups. As the brief goes: “Any new company with a mobile site, service or application across Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom can compete by submitting an entry to www.vodafonemobileclicks.com.
This year’s panel of judges includes Pat Phelan, director of product and innovation at Cubic Telecom, Prof Desmond Fitzgerald, VP for research at UCD, Rudy de Waele, founder of Mobile 2.0 Europe and dotopen; Peter Barry, Vodafone Ventures; Paul Jozefak, Mobile VC; Reshma Sohoni; partner at Seedcamp and Lee Epting, Vodafone Group.
Each judge will be scoring entries based on five criteria: originality, creativity and innovation; technical and operational feasibility; economic and financial viability; value to end-users; and finally, the quality of the management team.
The €225,000 prize fund will be allocated as €150,000 for 1st place ,€50,000 for the first runner-up and €25,000 for third place. Entrants must be: a registered company in a participating market; no more than three years old; a mobile-related start up, and have a turnover of less than €500,000.
