Here’s one for food fans and gourmet tourists to Ireland, the Food Lovers’ Guide to Ireland, published by Good Food Ireland is now ‘digitally enhanced’ thanks to the inclusion of some smart QR codes. The guide publishes “a carefully selected collection of the best places to visit that are committed to using local Irish food”. Each culinary destination listed has a QR code beside its contact details and when a smartphone user scans the code a local Google map is displayed on their mobile device.
“It is the first time in Ireland where a printed guide can connect people to a digital version on their smartphone,” says Margaret Jeffares, managing director, Good Food Ireland.
Places listed in the guide have all signed up to approved standards and are committed to sourcing local food thus supporting Irish farmers, food producers and fishermen.
