A nine year old boy, Owain Weinert, has created and designed a mobile gaming app for iOS with the help of developers from 4th & Battery. Allied Star Police (free for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users) is now available on the App Store.
The game was conceived and designed by nine-year old Owain, who is also a Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska & Washington® recipient residing in the Seattle area of the US.
Owain worked with game developers from 4th & Battery, the experimental label from PopCap Games. “Owain was literally like every other designer and developer I’ve worked with,” said Matthew Lee Johnston, senior producer at 4th & Battery. “The minute he walked in the door he handed us a fully realised game design, figured out to the last detail. He stuck with that vision, and directed the team through the development process like a pro.”
Allied Star Police is a side-scrolling, top down arcade-style game featuring a combination of tower defense and real-time strategy gameplay.
“This started off as a dream of mine, and now my friends and people all over the world can play my creation,” says Owain.

Evil Flamion units
In the game, powerful Allied Star Police (ASP) units are available for your deployment, including the Hovercraft SuperVehicle and the mysterious G.S.L.C. to help battle against the evil Flamion units, including the Mechazoids and Commandoids. Players fight their way through three difficulty settings – Newbie, Veteran, and INSANIFIED – and three exotic intergalactic locales – Earth, Mars and Flamiar – as they attempt to reach and destroy the Flamion Base.
4th & Battery aims to produce several games per year, primarily small-scale, arcade-style games for platforms ranging from PC to Facebook® and iPhone.
