Irish start-up Travelshake.com has launched a Facebook application for the tourism and travel businesses. The app lets owners send offers to their Facebook fansA new report by travel industry research firm PhoCusWright shows that Facebook referred more than 15.2 million visitors to hotel websites in 2010, a 35% increase from 2009, and a 428% jump from 2008.
“With Facebook now commanding up to 38% of total internet traffic, travel businesses are beginning to give more attention to their Facebook presence,” says Travelshake’s marketing director Laughlin Rigby.
The Travelshake app, which can be set as the default landing page, includes a video player, photo galleries, a map that sends the business’s location to an iPhone, Twitter feeds, offers and a lead generating contact form. The app also provides a custom colour palette to create a branded skin.
Businesses can sign up for free at Travelshake.com to get a basic microsite and smart map app or can buy all the Facebook apps with an enhanced microsite for €29 a month here.
