Aer Lingus recently ran an interesting recruitment campaign for its Cadet Pilot Training Programme. The airline ran a series of print ads on one Sunday (July 31st) across the national media in Ireland and NI. (The Sunday Times, Sunday Independent, Sunday Business Post, Sunday World, Sunday World NI and Sunday Life).
This advert contained a QR code which led people to the YouTube video below.
“By bringing an online element to a more traditional recruitment approach we have really engaged with our target audience for this Cadet Pilot Training Programme and it has resulted in a high amount of applications through aerlingus.com,” said Aer Lingus.
Andrew Jenkinson of vStream, the agency behind the campaign, said, “vStream was the first company to introduce QR codes into an Irish marketing campaign in 2008, and have been pushing the use of cross platform integration for a number of years. Technology like QR codes is finally becoming mainstream in Ireland, as it has been in Japan for many years. Linking users to value added digital content from traditional media including print, outdoor and even TV gives brands the ability to create deeper engagement and dwell time for campaigns with minimal additional costs.”
