Mousey Howsee and the Rescuers is an interactive picture book app for children (3+), and claims to be the first mobile children’s book application in which the storyline changes according to the time of the day and real-time weather conditions. How? Location based services track user coordinates, automatically syncing the app to play day or night, summer or winter content.
“Initially the guys at Apple questioned why a fairytale would need to use location-based service. Now that the app is a success, the reasons are clear,” says Donatas Malinauskas, MD of Realverus, the creative team behind the app.
In Mousey Howsee and the Rescuers the young readers make the magic happen. By tapping, swiping, dragging and dropping, they ensure Mousey Howsee’s survival. Children have an active role in advancing the story.
“Electronic books are getting more and more popular. We are proud of being among the pioneers of real-time interactive writing, telling our story differently depending on real world conditions,” says the app’s co-writer Jurga Sakalauskaite.
Realverus joined forces with interactive agency Gaumina to launch the Mousey Howsee and the Rescuers App for iPad, now available on the iTunes Store, £3.99.
