After months of speculation and hundreds of millions of euro worth of ‘earned media’ gained, Apple finally announced its latest iPhone. It is called the iPhone 4S. Inside, it is all new. It has an A5 chip, same as the iPad 2. It is seven times faster than iPhone 4 with better graphics for gaming. The new chip is twice as fast as the older one. Battery life is eight hours of talk time on 3G, 14 hours on 2G, 10 hours of watching video. The camera is better as is the video which is now 1080p, the highest high-definition standard available. There’s also video image stabilisation. Siri is now a feature on the iPhone 4S, this means you can use your voice (i.e. talk to your phone) and command it to do various actions. It’s a voice recognition system. You can ask the 4S what the weather will be like, or to book a restaurant for you. You can also ask it to set the alarm for 7am. ‘Wake me up at 7am’. Pretty cool stuff. However, the reaction to the launch of the ‘new’ phone was more muted than previous iPhone launches.
