This new app from Barclays Bank in the UK is set to revolutionise the way people pay for things and send money to each other. Using PingIt, a Barclays Bank customer is able to send up to £300 a day to another PingIt user. Only mobile phone numbers are needed. No bank details are required. The app is available for iPhones, Androids and Blackberrys.
Hopefully one of the major Irish banks will introduce something similar in the near future. It would be really handy for splitting bills in restaurants or paying a plumber. Barclays says it is now competing with a similar app recently launched by PayPal.
