Running a business these days, without some form of web presence, would seem pointless to many, however, it appears 30% of businesses with registered .ie domain names do not yet have a website.

Irish SMEs are the biggest culprits when it comes to not supporting their business with online and social media platforms, despite the fact that it has never been easier or cheaper to build a presence online. Even a seemingly complex e-commerce site can be set up quite easily without having to break the bank.

Now there’s another new tool aimed at SMEs to get them online and selling. Domain firm Register365 has launched SiteMaker HTML5. The company claims SMEs can build a professional website themselves, without the professional fees.

“You do everything yourself via your web browser, so you can access, edit and publish your site 24/7 from anywhere. SiteMaker HTML5 has many benefits but one of the most important advantages is its ability to create mobile-ready websites,” says Stephen Ewart, marketing manager of Register365.

“You don’t need to be a tech wizard or creative genius because you have a range of templates to choose from and a step-by-step guide to get started. You can also try it free for fourteen days with no commitment to buy. ”

Figures from the Centre for Retail Research suggest that more than €200 billion was spent by Europe’s estimated 240 million online customers in 2012, with e-commerce sales growing by 16%.
