Wi-Fi network operator Bitbuzz says it had a record number of registered users and logins.

Year on year to the end of 2013, registered users increased by 81% to 2.08 million, while there was a 67% increase in logins to 811,944. The Wi-Fi operator had 480 hotspots at the end of 2013, representing a twelve per cent increase.

“People now have an expectation for Wi-Fi internet access wherever they go,” says Shane Deasy, MD, Bitbuzz.

In May 2013, Bitbuzz announced users could login to the Wi-Fi network using their Facebook or Twitter account details.

There was also an increase in data downloads for 2013, averaging 557Mb compared to 380Mb in the previous year.
