Have you ever had a busted smartphone, a cracked screen on your iPad, a laptop that suddenly goes blink? And then the search for a repair shop gets underway.
It’s a common fact of our tech driven world that finding a good repair shop, or gadget expert, is difficult.
A new Irish business, FIXIY.ie, aims to solve this problem.
FIXIY.ie is the brainchild of Dublin-born entrepreneur Shane Fay. The company’s new Mobile FIXIY Tech service says it can come to your home or office and repair most broken devices within 30 minutes.
More interestingly, the company is offering a franchise programme that teaches participants how to repair technology devices and “effectively start their own FIXIY repair business for their area”.
The FIXIY franchise
FIXIY is currently recruiting for technicians across the country to expand its service network.
The idea is that people can become their ‘local expert’ on iPhone, Galaxy, iPod, iPad, PC and MacBook repairs. The “business-in-a-box” model allows participants to start earning money, and provides “full training, ongoing support, and a customised marketing plan that enables them to maximise the return on their investment”. FIXIY franchises cost €1,000, with a monthly support fee of €120.
“The franchise programme is all about empowering people to start their own business, and become the ‘go to tech repair person’ in their local area,” says Fay.
“The programme is ideally suited to anyone who is looking to start their own business, generate extra income, or anyone currently unemployed with a background in repair, engineering, tradesmen or customer support. Once somebody is mechanically minded, good with people and motivated we can teach them.”
With over two million smartphones, 1.2 million tablets and over a million computers in Ireland, the potential for FIXIY franchisees is evident.
