Game developers invited to ‘State of Play’ in DIT

By: November 26, 2013

Dublin Institute of Technology’s School of Media will host its third annual ‘State of Play’ event, from 6pm on Friday 29th November at DIT Aungier Street.

‘State of Play’ is a gathering of Irish indie game developers, who will showcase their work. Those studying game development are particularly encouraged to attend.

Over fifteen ‘indie’ game developers will speak and show their wares, including Redwind Software, winner of the Grand Prix at The Appys 2013, exGamer Studios, Haunted Planet Studios, Pewter Games, SixMinute Studios and BitSmith Games. This year’s keynote speaker is Mark Morris of UK indie developer Introversion Software, developer of the acclaimed DEFCON and Dawinia games, as well as the upcoming Prison Architect.

Independent or ‘indie’ games are developed without mainstream financial backing, by small teams of designers, programmers and creatives. These types of developers form the majority of Irish games companies.

State of Play will broadcast live at www.stateofplay.ie on the night. Follow the event on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #SOP13.

A limited number of tickets costing €6.05 including booking fee are available at stateofplay.ie. A showcase of games and digital media projects developed at the DIT School of Media is also available at www.iStory.ie.
