Graduate jobs in Ireland - a new way for graduates to find paid internships and jobs

It has always been difficult for graduates to find first jobs or paid internships in Ireland. The typical way many graduates enter the workforce is through contacts, the “my Dad knows someone who could get your foot in the door” approach. But what if there was a platform that was allowed graduates connect with potential employers without having to resort to old-style referral tactics? is a new platform that aims to do just that.

“Shake was founded to help Irish companies hire the best student and graduate talent,” says CEO and founder Kevin Holler.

The company recently announced the first participant companies in its newly launched ‘Shake Summer Internship’ programme which include fintech start-up CurrencyFair in Dublin, project management platform Teamwork and cybersecurity firm Barricade in Cork.

Work experience counts when it comes to graduate jobs in Ireland

“According to research 95 percent of employers say candidate experience is the main factor in hiring decisions. If you have completed internships, you will clearly have an edge over your classmates who haven’t,” says Holler.

CurrencyFair, which this month announced a €10 million funding round, will participate in the internship programme. “Fintech is an expanding growth area for jobs. We need the best developers and graduates possible to help build, grow and innovate,” says CEO and founder Brett Meyers. “That’s why we signed up to Shake.”

Shake was founded in 2014 by Kevin Holler and Thomas Cullen, who both have worked for some of Ireland’s top tech firms and saw the need for a tool that disrupts the traditional resource-consuming, multi-funnel hiring processes engaged by firms, particularly in light of the recent upswing in the economy.

Shake was founded to help Irish companies hire the best student and graduate talent with an initial focus will be on high-tech positions such as software developers, web developers and designers.
