Keeping up with everything on Twitter can be a full time job these days. For those of us who have to work outside the Twittersphere or occasionally like to switch off all devices and breathe every now and again, Twitter has an innovative ‘new’ feature that allows us to keep up with what we missed.
In a blog post, Twitter announced that it will be sending users a weekly email featuring the highlights from their feed. This summary features the most relevant Tweets and stories shared by the people you’re connected to on Twitter.
The mail will have two sections, ‘Stories’ and ‘Tweets’. Stories will feature a design similar to the recently updated Discover tab, featuring the most popular stories from your timeline and indicating who shared them. Tweets will list the ‘most engaged’ 140 character posts seem by the people you follow, even if you don’t directly follow the author. You can see who from your network retweeted or favorited these Tweets and click ‘View details’ to retweet, favorite, reply or view the conversation around them.
“We’re rolling out this new email out to everyone over the next few weeks,” says Othman Laraki, director, growth and international in the blog. Users will then be able to subscribe or unsubscribe to the service via their notification settings.
