By 2015, developers working on mobile app projects will outnumber developers working on PC projects by four to one.
In 2014, over a billion smartphones will be sold worldwide and this will drive mobile app consumption into the stratosphere.
Estimates (from Credit Suisse) suggest that by 2016 there will be over 10 billion mobile connected devices and smartphone traffic will be 50 times what it is today.
As more mobile apps are created and smartphones begin to consume more data, the app publishers are likely to move their apps to the cloud and consumers are likely to start using more cloud-based apps and services.
Cloud-based apps are easier to access, cheaper to publish and easier for businesses to update and distribute.
