The social media driven news agency Storyful has teamed up with user generated photo and video curator Demotix to create a novel newswire service.
The channel will deliver a stream of ‘high-value and rights-cleared’ images and video to news organisations. Demotix’s content will be available on a dedicated channel on StoryfulPro, the subscription section of the new media website.
“This new channel meets the great challenge facing journalists in a social age,” said Storyful CEO, Mark Little. “How can we find user-generated content that we can trust and safely use in our stories?”
Turi Munthe, CEO of Demotix, said the deal offers “a valuable commercial connection between the most authentic and compelling content creators and the most forward-thinking newsrooms”.
Headquartered in Dublin, Storyful reports from around the world, by combining the best of traditional reporting with citizen journalism. Storyful recently opened a New York office and now has reporters based all around the globe.
