Artificial intelligence would be the ultimate version of Google

Imagine a hands free, mobile device that allows you to search seamlessly as you move through the physical world around you. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of Google, have gone a long way to creating such a magical tool. Much has been written about Google Glasses or ‘Project Glass’ (see video below), and while it is far from public beta, it gives an indication of just what Google aspires to when it comes to re-imagining the world around us and the role technology can play in the future.
So what other ‘crazy’ projects is Google working on at its top secret design, innovation and test lab called Google (x) housed at an undisclosed location in the Bay Area, California?

Sergey Brin, Google’s co-founder, is deeply involved in the lab. Larry Page and Brin came up with a list of 100 shoot-for-the-stars ideas, including: Robotic avatars; driverless cars; the web of things; artificial intelligence and Google Maps for indoors.

“Artificial intelligence would be the ultimate version of Google. The ultimate search engine that would understand everything on the Web. It would understand exactly what you wanted, and it would give you the right thing. We’re nowhere near doing that now. However, we can get incrementally closer to that, and that is basically what we work on.” Larry Page, October 2000.
