'Video Games' ... (see what we did there)

Thanks to @EarHazards for sending us a link to this, a new feature from YouTube that improves the quality of the videos you upload onto the site.
Last year YouTube launched its video editing suite for would-be filmmakers, but this new tool ‘fixes’ dodgy, shaky, badly-lit video footage all in just one click.

“If you upload a video that’s shaky or dark, we’ll automatically offer to fix it for you, creating an updated version of your video on YouTube,” says YouTube. Best of all, if you don’t like the results you can quickly revert back to your original film footage.

The ‘Improve YouTube video awesomeness with one click’ tool is an excellent idea, and not just for users. YouTube has, for a long time now, being investing hundreds of millions of dollars in improving the quality of its video offerings. The better quality the videos on YouTube the more likely people will stay longer on the site.

This tool also prompts video makers to use it and plants a seed in their head that maybe next time they shoot video, they should consider improving the lighting or using a tripod to stop camera shake.

The tool is also great for cleaning up low quality footage shot on mobiles.
