Collaborative networks – start building them

Building collaborative networks is key to Ireland becoming an innovation island. That was the key message delivered at the InterTradeIreland’s 2010 All-island Innovation Conference. Most speakers at the conference agreed that such network “are essential to drive innovation and to develop a dynamic and indigenous knowledge-based economy”.
During the keynote address, Professor Woody Powell, a leading economic sociologist at Stanford University, California outlined key factors required to build business clusters within an economy. “The implication for all industrial sectors is that successful clusters require the thorough mixing of people, ideas and resources across the university, business and financial communities.”
Other speakers were Dr Martin Curley, Director, Intel Labs Europe; Dr Peter FitzGerald, founder and MD, Randox Laboratories; Damini Kumar, European Ambassador of Creativity and Innovation (featured in the video above) and Dr John O’Dea, CEO, Crospon.
