The search is once again on to find Ireland’s best websites. The Realex Fire Web awards show (which is free to enter) has 29 categories such as News and Media, Entertainment and Arts, Technology and Social, Government, Education and Community, Commerce and Mobile sectors as well as Technical awards.

Anyone can nominate a site, and the list of nominees is drawn solely from public nominations by a judging panel. All nominations are listed on the awards website. There were in excess of 600 nominations last year.

This year’s awards includes Best Online Publication, Best Student Web Project, Best Financial Services Website, Most Useful Website in Ireland, Best Sports Site, Web Agency of the Year and Most Beautiful Website in Ireland, amongst others. New categories on this year’s list are Best Website of a Start-up and Best Daily Web Publication.

Additional new category Ugliest Website in Ireland can only be nominated by yourself and not others; the prize is €4,500 of web design from V7.

“The unique aspect of these awards is that they are open to anyone to enter and whether you are a multinational or a one-person business your website has an equal chance of winning. Simply securing a nomination can be a great boost to your business,” says Damien Mulley, founder of the awards.

Entry to the Awards is on the website at www.webawards.ie. Nominations close on 12th September with finalists announced in October and winners in November, at a ceremony in the Four Seasons Hotel.
