Calling all start-ups. Seedcamp is coming to Dublin from April 30 – May 1.
Seedcamp is a two day event that aims to connect “the 20 best web-tech, mobile and software talent with some of the leading entrepreneurs, developers, experts and investors from all across Europe and all over the world”.
To get a place on this year’s Seedcamp is no easy feat. Competition is fierce. As the organisers say: “The [start-ups] we generally back are capital efficient tech businesses across software/mobile/internet/media, but we’re open to innovative ideas and businesses in related areas, too. The main thing is to demonstrate a big potential for the idea.”
The companies that are chosen must offer up equity for actual seed funding. The standard investment is €50,000 in return for a 8-10% stake. Seedcamp also offers €25,000 for 5% for companies that need less cash, and for qualifying companies that want to participate in Seedcamp without investment funding, for 3% of ordinary shares in your company, you get full participation within the Seedcamp program.
Those who make the program are given office space at the Google Campus, London. Google is one of the main sponsors of the event along with Microsoft Bizspark; Nokia; PayPal Developer and Barclays.
To apply (before April 16), the oragnisers say you should spend time to “fill out the application comprehensively” and the ability to clearly communicate “your idea and strengths of your team is critical for consideration”.
