The Sunday Times in Ireland is to launch a tablet app on iOS and Android. The app will cost €9.99 a month or €2.69 a week from Google Play and the App Store.
The app, according to a statement from the newspaper, isn’t a rich media app. The Sunday Times says: “Readers of the Irish edition of The Sunday Times will now be able to download a PDF digital version of the newspaper’s news content as well as the eight supplements: Business + Money, Sunday, News Review, Sport, Travel, Culture, Style and The Sunday Times Magazine.”
A PDF version of the newspaper viewable on tablets, that will cost €2.69 per issue? It will be interesting to see how that works. The print title costs €2.80.
The Sunday Times, whose website is behind a pay wall, had a circulation of 92,643 in Ireland, a drop of 8% year-on-year.
The Sunday Times in the UK has an interactive app with videos and the ability for readers to comment on content, which you can download, but it won’t have the Irish content.
