Sometimes the best ideas are the most obvious ideas. The age of the smartphone has brought many problems – Facebook addiction; the selfie; the cracked, spider web screen and of course short battery life resulting in NO POWER!
Two IADT students, however, aim to make the era of the low battery a thing of the past.
Applied Psychology student Conor Nolan and Entrepreneurship student Conor McGowan (21) are the founders of WattSpot, a company supplying free phone charging units “across the country”.
The company has also launched its new website.
“We know how inconvenient it can be stuck with no battery in town or in college and have nowhere to charge your phone. So we decided to do something about it,” say the founders.
“Businesses benefit from the incentive for customers to enter their establishment to charge their phones for free. Sales increase and the overall customer experience is elevated. Everyone’s a winner. It’s simple really,” says Nolan, who came up with the concept.
The new website WattSpot.ie features a map with WattSpot locations so customers can track down the nearest charging point.
The site was created by digital marketing agency Castle33, founded by IADT graduate Eoin Dixon Murphy, who is now creative director at the agency.
